Revision Breast Surgery
If you have had previous surgery elsewhere with an unsuccessful outcome and wish to undergo revision then we are always happy to assess your needs. Common implant issues include contracture(hardening), rupture or malposition. It will always help if you have the implant sizes used with copies of any scans.

General FAQs
Can old or ruptured breast implants be removed?
It is possible to remove old and ruptured implants and each case will need to be individually assessed. Ultrasound scans are sometimes just accurate in 80% of cases and MRI scans 95%. Ruptured implants may require removal of the surrounding breast capsule (capsulectomy) in order to provide a suitable area for re-augmentation if required.
Can breast implants be resized?
It is possible to change implant sizes if the surgery was done elsewhere. We will need to discuss this at consultation to assess the breast tissues and see whether skin removal/reshaping is needed as well.
How will they look?
A common fear amongst patients is looking very emptied out and we would have to discuss this in each case. If there is skin excess then a mastopexy can be used to help tighten up the loose skin without the with or without the use of a new implant. The new implants can either be round or anatomical of your choice
I've lost my original breast implant information - is that okay?
The original implant sizes are most helpful if you still have them or can still obtain this information from your original surgeon. Otherwise we will make estimates of the nearest size when replacing
How long is recovery after breast surgery and when can I fly ?
The recovery for a revision procedure is no longer than the first procedure and if anything usually faster. As a rough guide it would be six weeks before full strenuous activities (including flying on holiday) is advisable.
