Facelift (Deep Plane)
A facelift is used to specifically address the ageing face where there is droop around the jowls, deepening of the nasolabial groove and increased wrinkling around the chin (marionette lines). We follow the technique of Dr.James Stuzin, a renowned US surgeon where access incisions are usually in front of the ear and behind with the SMAS(Submuscular Aponeurotic System) layer elevated for maximum effect. This is also known as the deep plane.
This then allows the neck and jawline to be tightened for best effect. Specific problems with fatty collections or muscle weakness will require an incision under the chin crease also. Liposuction may be needed for chin fat.
Each patient will require individualised assessment and we will show you photographs of typical results in consultation.
General FAQs
Who is suitable for facelift?
If there is skin looseness around the jowl and neck area then this can be corrected provided you are in good medical health and don’t take any blood thinners. In order for the surgery to be long lasting, we would advise that you refrain from smoking and excessive sunbathing. Keeping a steady weight post-surgery is essential, especially where weight loss has been achieved via drugs
What effect does Botox/dermal fillers/thread lift have on this?
Please let us know if you have had these non-surgical procedures since it may not be possible to perform the most effective surgery. We would advise that you refrain from Botox or fillers until their effects have worn off
How long is recovery?
The face is fast to recover with sutures taken out at five days. Ice packs can help speed this up. Most bruising and swelling is resolved by three weeks. We will show you examples during consultation
