Your Initial Consultation
Your initial consultation will consist of your full medical history, clinical examination and a discussion of your particular expectations and concerns. Your proposed treatment will be discussed in detail and photographs may be taken to aid this discussion. Photographs of typical results will be available for you to view. A list of your medications is helpful.
A friend or relative is very welcome to accompany you to help in this important decision. This is most helpful in order sometimes to give you, as the patient, a more balanced decision. It is sometimes necessary to have a second consultation in order to make a considered decision prior to surgery.
The consultation fee is payable at the time of your appointment in either cash or cheque. This includes further pre-operative consultations as necessary.
Should you proceed, then Mr. Lam will communicate in writing to both you and your GP which is essential to Good Medical Practice (as per the General Medical Council guidelines).
This fee also includes further pre-operative visits if necessary.
Cosmetic surgery procedures are dealt with under a Fixed Price Package which includes surgery, anaesthetic, hospital charges and all after care. Complications of the surgery which arise within a year are covered also within this.
For cosmetic surgery fees, please contact the individual hospitals. At Claremont Hospital this will be Gaynor Mitchell on (0114) 2632114 and Mandy Fiddes at Thornbury Hospital on (0114) 2674659
For breast augmentation, Mr. Lam only uses implants from Mentor and Allergan of the highest quality which are covered by a Lifetime Replacement Warranty. Should the implants ever fail then the manufacturer will provide a replacement pair and contribute towards the cost of the replacement surgery.
For those procedures that are covered by health insurance, Mr. Lam charges within the limits of the major insurance companies such as AXA PPP and Pru Health. It is your responsibility to ensure that your policy will cover the cost of the proposed procedure should there be a shortfall. Prior to consultation, it is essential that you obtain an authorisation code from your Insurance Company and have your membership details to hand.
We are seeing increased numbers of patients from London and it is often financially worthwhile to have your surgery in Sheffield even including local hotel stays and travel costs.
